What Other Calgary Companies Publish
Anyone can call their own prices fair. So here is the check: what other Calgary countertop companies publish on their own websites, next to what we publish. We only show a market range where at least three Calgary companies publish one, which is why granite and quartz are here and the rarer stones are not.
| What | Calgary companies publish | BedRock publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Granite, installed per sq ft | $50 to $200 / sq ft installed | $60 to $140 / sq ft |
| Quartz, installed per sq ft | $60 to $180 / sq ft installed | $70 to $150 / sq ft |
| A typical mid-size kitchen, all-in | $3,000 to $8,000 installed | $2,500 to $6,000 |
Based on prices published by Calgary countertop companies. This is market data, not a BedRock quote.
The Calgary figures are a spread, not an average. The companies genuinely disagree, and on granite they disagree by a lot, so flattening them into one number would invent a precision nobody actually published. Kitchen-size bands differ between companies too, so the all-in row is comparable rather than like-for-like.

How Much Are Countertops Per Square Foot in Calgary?
"Per square foot" only means something once you know what's inside it. Every number here is an installed price, the slab, fabrication, standard edge, cutouts, delivery and installation, not a slab-only sticker that balloons once labour is added. Here's the honest range for each material.
Granite countertops
$60 to $140 / sq ft installed. The best value in natural stone. Entry-group granite is usually the cheapest stone countertop you can buy in Calgary; rare exotic slabs sit at the top of the range. See granite options โ
Quartz countertops
$70 to $150 / sq ft installed. Engineered, zero-maintenance and Calgary's most-requested surface. Entry quartz is close to entry granite; designer calacatta looks cost more. See quartz options โ
Quartzite countertops
$90 to $200 / sq ft installed. A natural stone harder than granite with a marble-like look. Priced above granite and quartz because the slabs are rarer and tougher to fabricate. See quartzite โ
Porcelain & marble
Porcelain $90 to $180 / sq ft installed. Slim and ultra-durable, for modern and outdoor kitchens. Marble $80 to $180 / sq ft installed. Classic, for bathrooms and feature pieces. See porcelain โ
Watch for "from $XX/sq ft" ads, that's usually a slab-only or loss-leader group. Ask for an installed, itemized quote so you're comparing the same thing. Ours is free and firm in 24 hours.
The 6 Things That Change Your Quote
- โSlab group. Stones are tiered, an entry-group quartz can cost half of a designer calacatta.
- โSquare footage & layout. More corners and seams = more fabrication time.
- โEdge profile. Standard eased edges are included; ogee and mitred edges add cost.
- โCutouts. Sinks, faucets and cooktops each take precision cutting and polishing.
- โWaterfall ends & backsplash. Beautiful, and they use more stone.
- โRemoval of old tops. We can remove and dispose, quoted upfront, never sprung on you.
What a Replacement Adds, Beyond the Slab
A per square foot price buys the countertop. Replacing an existing kitchen also buys the work that happens before the new stone goes down, and that work is the usual reason two quotes for the same slab do not match. Here is what sits on a replacement bill that a new build never sees, step by step in our countertop installation process.
Taking out the old tops
Someone has to lift the old counters off the cabinets and haul them away. We can remove and dispose of yours, quoted upfront as its own line rather than folded into the per square foot number, so you can see exactly what it costs and compare it against anyone else.
Disconnecting the sink and faucet
The sink, faucet and often the dishwasher have to come off before the old top moves and go back on once the new one is set. Ask any quote you are comparing who does that part and whether it is priced in, because it is frequently left out.
Levelling and supporting cabinets
Stone is heavy and unforgiving, and it telegraphs every dip in a cabinet run. Older or out of level cabinets sometimes need shimming or added support first. A laminate top will hide a wavy run; granite or quartz will not.
Getting the slab into the room
Stairs, tight hallways and second floor kitchens make an installation slower and need more hands on the slab. Mention it when you ask for a price so it is in the number from the start instead of appearing on install day.
The single question that makes two quotes comparable: does this include removing and disposing of my old countertops, and is it itemized? When one number comes in well under the others, this is usually where the difference is hiding.
