Calgary Porcelain Colours

Porcelain slab is the newest surface in the collection and the one most people have not seen in person. It is fired clay, thin, extremely hard and UV stable. Below is every porcelain colour we have listed, grouped by colour.

Worth knowing

Choosing porcelain without regretting it

The colours here skew light and grey, because porcelain is mostly bought for modern, slim-profile kitchens where the surface is meant to read as a clean plane rather than as a piece of geology. The pattern is printed onto the surface, which is why porcelain can produce a convincing marble look with none of marble's behaviour.

Porcelain is also the only surface on this site that is genuinely happy outdoors. It does not fade in sunlight, which matters for an outdoor kitchen or a covered patio bar in a climate that swings as hard as Calgary's does.

The material

What porcelain is actually like to own

Thin by design

Porcelain slabs are much thinner than a stone slab. That gives the slim modern profile people want, and it means the edge detail and the substrate matter more. Mitred edges are common on porcelain for exactly this reason.

Fabrication is more specialised

Cutting and handling a large thin porcelain slab is a different job from cutting granite, with a real breakage risk if it is done by someone who has not done it before. It is fair to ask any fabricator how much porcelain they actually cut.

The pattern is on the surface

On most porcelain the decoration is a printed layer, so a deep chip can show the body colour underneath. Full-body porcelain exists and behaves better here. Ask which one a slab is.

What it costs

Calgary price range

Installed porcelain in Calgary runs $90 to $180 per square foot. Where a slab lands in that range depends mostly on how rare and how dramatic it is, which is why the colour you choose above moves the number.
